
Biography of Business Unit Secretary
SDGs Japan has prepared a "business unit" system as a framework for working with multiple organizations on themes such as health, education, poverty and inequality, as well as regional and community issues. At present, monthly business management meetings are held with the participation of the secretary groups of the 12 Units, where they share information on the progress of Unit activities and exchange opinions on policy advocacy activities.
(1) Development Unit (general development and development finance unit for developing countries)

After engaging in bilateral aid at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, he was stationed in Afghanistan as the office manager of the international NGO Jen and engaged in support for returnees. Joined World Vision Japan in 2011. Since 2013, he has been involved in advocacy for children's rights such as global health, education, the elimination of violence against children, and SDGs.
In addition to being the facilitator of the SDGs Civil Society Network Project Management Committee and secretary of the development unit, he is also the deputy representative of the Educational Cooperation NGO Network.

Belongs to JANIC since 2012. After working in the Overseas Business Department and Corporate Liaison Department, he has been in charge of advocacy since 2010. Involved in policy proposals in a wide range of fields to realize children's rights in Japan and overseas, including development assistance policy and SDGs.

Graduated from the College of Liberal Arts, University of Tokyo. After working at a chemical and material-related company, became a JACSES staff member. He also serves as an officer of other NPOs, a corporate officer, a think tank fellow, and a part-time lecturer at a university (responsible for "NPO/NGO theory", etc.). His publications include “Environmental Tax – Tax and Fiscal Reform and Sustainable Welfare Society” (Tsukiji Shokan, single author), “Gigaton Gap – Climate Change and International Negotiations” (Alterna, co-author), “The Limits of the Earth” (JUSE). , co-author), etc. "Climate change and SDGs" is being serialized in Alterna.

He has been involved in educational development and humanitarian aid projects in Myanmar refugee camps, Afghanistan, and Nepal. Eno Nakamura
After working for a youth organization, he completed a Master's in Education at a graduate school in the UK. He joined the Development Education Association in 2000. After working in the business department, he took up his current position in 2008. He practices and researches education (development education, ESD, etc.) that considers social issues and creates a sustainable society, and is involved in supporting the creation of various learning opportunities, building domestic and international networks, and making policy recommendations. He also serves as a director of the Ayus Buddhist International Cooperation Network and a part-time university lecturer (in charge of courses such as "Citizen Activism").

Kaoru Takahashi
Received an MA in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. After working in fundraising, PR and corporate collaboration at an emergency aid NGO, she worked for an education-related company before assuming her current position in July 2012. As the only administrative staff member, she was involved in the establishment of the non-profit organization WaterAid Japan. Currently, she is involved in a wide range of work, including fundraising and advocacy.

Hideto Kawakita
Born in Osaka in 1964. After graduating from university in 1987, he joined Recruit Co., Ltd., where he was in charge of international recruitment, public relations, and sales support before retiring in 1991. He served as the Japanese representative of an international youth exchange NGO and policy secretary to a member of parliament, before founding IIHOE in 1994. He provides management support for over 100 social projects and civic activities, large and small, each year, and supports the CSR management of over 10 socially responsible companies each year, as well as helping to build a foundation for collaboration between NPOs and government.

Yoshiteru Horie
Born in 1968. After completing graduate school (majoring in international law), he worked in the private sector before joining AAR Japan in January 2000, where he was involved in support projects for Cambodia and Afghanistan. He became a permanent director and secretary-general in April 2005, executive director and secretary-general in June 2013, and has held his current position since July 2021. He is the author of "Will you devote yourself to your company or to society? - A guide to working at international cooperation" (Bonjinsha, 2005) (co-author).

Hiroki Matsubara
Born in Hiroshima in 1982. In order to realize a rich civil society, he supports NPOs and volunteer activities, and works with a variety of entities to solve local issues and achieve the SDGs.

Doctor of Political Science. Participated in refugee support activities while researching refugee acceptance policies in developed countries. After that, he was involved in the management of various NGOs and foundations. At SDGs Japan, he is in charge of dissemination and enlightenment projects, and manages group public relations and event planning. In addition to serving as a commentator for Asahi Shimbun Digital, he has also been active as an expert member of the Cabinet Office Gender Equality Promotion Liaison Council since August 2009.

After working in a construction consulting company, a social welfare council, as a JICA expert, and as part of the DPI Japan secretariat, now engaged in disability support projects across multiple countries as a development consultant. Holds a Master’s degree from the University of Manchester’s Institute for International Development Policy and Management. Areas of expertise include disability and development, as well as social welfare.

Yoshihiro Mitsuoka
Born on August 9, 1979, in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. At the age of 14, sustained a spinal cord injury following surgery to remove a spinal tumor, resulting in the use of a manual wheelchair. Graduated from the Faculty of Health and Welfare at Kawasaki Medical Welfare University and obtained a social worker license. Completed a master’s course in social welfare at Hokusei Gakuen University Graduate School. In 2005, began working at an independent living center in Hachioji, Tokyo, where experience was gained over approximately 10 years. Later worked for about 8 years at the Japan Disability Rehabilitation Association. Currently engaged in providing consultation and support at an independent living center and an NPO in Hachioji, Tokyo.

Megumi Igarashi
Graduated from Hosei University's Faculty of Sociology with a specialization in international politics, particularly the European Union. Originally from Fukushima Prefecture. After working at a communications company, transitioned to the NPO sector. Specializes in leveraging the metaverse in public administration, addressing social issues through virtual spaces, and promoting the SDGs within the nonprofit sector. Currently serves as a project manager at the certified NPO Fujisawa Civic Activities Promotion Organization, an intermediary support organization for NPOs in Kanagawa Prefecture, planning and developing cross-sector collaborations involving national and local governments, as well as private companies. Particularly focused on applying metaverse technologies in the field of welfare. Also founded an NPO providing childcare support and opportunities for international exchange, and has been engaged in community-based activities for over a decade.

Yasuharu Yokoyama
After establishing an NPO in Chofu, Tokyo in 1999, went on to operate several NPOs as public-private collaborative projects, including a tourism association secretariat, regional information services, and healthy youth development initiatives. Since 2009, has managed a youth-run tourist information center in the city, and since 2011, has been involved in collaborative projects with three prefectures in the Tohoku region. Since 2021, has been working nationwide as a lecturer and facilitator for public-private co-creation and sustainable community development focused on the SDGs, serving as the representative director of the Sustainable Community Co-Creation Organization.
Participated as the graphic recorder for the C20 Summit in 2019 and the C7 Summit in 2023.

Born in Sendai in 1976, he spent his elementary and junior high school years in Iwate and Tochigi prefectures.
Since 2010, he has worked at Soka Gakkai International, where he has been involved in awareness-raising activities and advocacy both in Japan and overseas in the fields of nuclear weapons abolition, sustainable development, and disaster prevention and mitigation. He has participated in the Japan CSO Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (JCC-DRR) since its inception in 2015, and currently serves as the focal point for external collaboration. He is a member of the Japan NPO Association and the Japan Society of Social Relations.

Akiko Benimura
Lives in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. In July 2018, he established SDGs Tohoku General Incorporated Association. She holds SDGs seminars and workshops for companies, local government officials, high schools, and citizens. イギリス ダラム大学にて国際関係学を専攻する傍ら、2022年4月より持続可能な社会に向けたジャパンユースプラットフォームの事務局員として活動を開始。第3回パリ協定とSDGsのシナジー強化に関する国際会議にてサイドイベントを開催、また本会議にパネリストの一人として登壇した。2022年12月よりWomen7(W7)の実行委員として活動を開始。SNSを通しての普及啓発活動やユースコンサルテーション運営を担当。W7サミットではユース代表として小倉男女共同参画担当大臣にインタビューを実施した。

横浜国立大学大学院修了、修士(国際経済法学)。在学中に、パニック障害を発症したことをきっかけに、当事者としてマイノリティに関する啓発活動を実施。持続可能な社会に向けたジャパンユースプラットフォーム(JYPS)事務局員に着任してからは日本の市民社会との関係構築活動に従事し、2023年のG7広島サミットに向けた活動を担当。2023年4月よりJYPS共同事務局長に就任。2023年9月より英国大学院修士課程進学予定。
